A plain-language walk-through of your first session and what happens after, so nothing feels unfamiliar when you walk in.
My primary goal in our initial meeting is simple: making sure you feel comfortable and safe in a confidential space. This first session sets the stage for our work together — we'll talk through the goals you've set for yourself, and I'll help name strengths you may not fully recognize in yourself yet.
That foundation matters. A therapeutic relationship works best when it's collaborative from the start, not something that happens to you.
We'll cover paperwork, confidentiality, and logistics briefly, then spend most of the time simply talking.
You set the agenda — what's been hard, what you're hoping changes, and what "better" would actually look like.
Together we sketch out a way of working that fits your goals, pulling from person-centered, CBT, and identity-aware approaches as needed.
We check in on progress regularly and adjust course whenever something isn't working.
